Sadly, the Coton will be accepted into the Miscellaneous class of the AKC this Summer. All we can do now as a breeder is continue to health test all of our breeding dogs, and hope that the public will not be too confused when looking for a healthy Coton de Tulear puppy. I can guarantee that while you are searching the internet you'll find puppies that are very cheap. Maybe $300 or $600 or even $1200..these are not well bred Cotons and one knee surgery will cost you the money that you were trying to save, plus more...You will also see more Coton puppies in pet stores. The pet store owner will tell you that they come from a breeder. Of course they come from a breeder! A breeder of a puppy mill. No ethical breeder will ever sell to a pet store. No ethical breeder will breed a Coton with a different breed to make some kind of designer dog.
Please do your research. A puppy is a lifetime commitment. You are welcome to phone me anytime at 203-298-0428 if you have any questions about your quest for a Coton de Tulear puppy.
So as you begin your search for your new addition to your family, not only would you want to buy from a Breeders of Excellence Breeder, WHO HEALTH TEST ALL THEIR BREEDING DOGS. PLEASE ask your breeder if they are mandated to give your personal and private information to their governing body for possible future spamming. I believe that ethics and morality are one in the same.
When you are going through website after website and sending emails after emails you must realize that when you come across a breeder who sells their puppies for $300 or $600 or $1200 or even $1800, that your future pups can be coming from one of the hell-like facilities that you've viewed in these videos.
So what about the AKC you ask? Aside from the fact that they are present at puppy mill auctions handing out AKC registrations.....
You can just read at your leisure. I hope this has shed some light on the AKC and what this can mean for the Coton de Tulear. AKC's super secret Puppy registration and inventory management extranet
